Gifts in a Year of Challenges!
The year 2021 started out with a bang: My hidden heart condition flared up and I was hospitalized for two weeks in recovery. In spite of what my Ivy League trained doctors tell me, I work hard and believe I am getting healthy.
During the months of my recovery, a close friend read a book called The Law Of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham. I heard of this Law, but was clueless about its meaning in our lives.
My friend explained that life is like a bowl of cherries: You enjoy the ripe ones (good moments) and throw out the cherry pits (bad moments).
Simple and clear. The simple part is that we can control our lives (cherry pick whatever we want). The clear part is that our thoughts make our reality (throw out useless cherry pits). I let this universal Law marinate for a few weeks.
Then a couple months months ago, I awoke from a dream: I dreamed a few magical words with a hint of a melody for a patriotic folk song. I’m a jazzer (jazz musician) and never wrote a word for a song. I’ve only written instrumentals.
I now believe that this musical inspiration to write a song was a gift from our almighty Creator.
This gift is an answer to my prayers to find a way – my way – to help our great nation.
Musical Flow
And on the same day of my dream, I wrote the rest of the song. Three verses and one refrain/chorus flowed from my fingers.
Version four of the song is in process, but it remains true to the words since the day I wrote them.
As I said and as my friends and Twitter followers know, I experienced heart failure in January. People have been very supportive, for which I am beyond grateful. The Creator works in mysterious ways.
From Dream to Reality
I believe that God challenges us to make us stronger. In the middle of my struggle with a very sick heart, I’ve done something amazing.
And it is my belief I’m going through the heart failure as kinda a fire under my butt to make a meaty impact on my country.
I think the outpouring of sympathy from people about my heart failure, carried forward to sympathy for my song project.
I decided to put my dream out there. I told people that I was looking for support to rebuild my ancient home recording studio, record the song and follow up with a new album.
Here is the dream to reality part: Two very generous souls stepped forward! And in fairness, my spouse and I raided our emergency fund and matched their generosity. I received support from least one other small donor — I appreciate their gift as much as the large donors.
We went beyond matching and financed a microphone I wanted for the project.
Prayers and Desires
What does all this mean? I’ve learned that if you ask, you will receive. The Law of Attraction is the Creator’s gift to us all. Ask and pray for whatever you want and you will receive it. Your desires will be met.
My friend reminds me that we are not on this Earth to suffer, be unhappy or struggle with cherry pits. Our lives are to be joyful, happy and prosperous.
